Brights Hardware is seeking a reliable and customer-focused Driver Code 8 - Wholesale Department to ensure that goods are delivered accurately, punctually and in excellent condition. The successful candidate will be responsible for safe vehicle operation, efficient route planning, stock handling, delivery documentation and providing a high standard of customer service.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide professional and friendly customer service at all times.
• Complete daily trip sheets accurately, including opening and closing kilometres and departure and arrival times.
• Conduct a daily pre-trip vehicle inspection to ensure basic roadworthy standards are met.
• Record vehicle inspection results on the required trip documentation.
• Report any vehicle defects or maintenance requirements to the Supervisor and complete the relevant vehicle repair report.
• Ensure truck assistants remain with the assigned vehicle as required.
• Plan and follow the most efficient delivery routes.
• Ensure all outgoing stock has the correct documentation before loading.
• Record all transfer documentation accurately in the required logbook.
• Ensure transfer logbooks are signed by the receiving branch.
• Ensure all stock is delivered safely and in excellent condition.
• Report any delays at branches or customer locations to the Supervisor.
• Submit weekly evaluation reports to the Supervisor.
• Report to the Supervisor at the end of each working day.
• Participate in perpetual stock counts when required.
• Assist with monitoring the loading and offloading of stock.
• Ensure goods are handled correctly to prevent damage or loss.
• Perform other reasonable work-related duties delegated by the Supervisor or management.

Minimum Requirements

• Matric / Grade 12 or equivalent.
• Candidates without Matric may be considered if they have a valid driver's licence and at least 3 years' driving experience.
• At least 1 year of driving experience.
• Valid Code 8 driver's licence.
• A higher driver's licence code will be advantageous.
• Valid PDP / Professional Driving Permit for goods and passengers.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure.
• Good monitoring and observation skills.
• Strong customer service skills.
• Ability to read, write and communicate effectively.
• Ability to understand vehicle loading procedures.
• Good planning, time-management and organisational skills.
• Reliable, punctual and responsible approach to work.
