General Worker

Sentraal-Suid Co-operative Ltd (SSK) is seeking a motivated, reliable and hardworking General Worker to join the Grain Department team in Protem. The successful candidate will provide essential manual support to daily grain handling operations while maintaining high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, safety and efficiency in a demanding operational environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform general manual labour and support daily grain handling operations.
• Assist with loading, moving and handling grain-related materials and equipment.
• Maintain cleanliness and good housekeeping throughout the facility.
• Ensure work areas are kept clean, hygienic and organised.
• Follow all workplace health and safety requirements.
• Comply with risk management procedures and food safety regulations.
• Use equipment and tools responsibly and according to established procedures.
• Follow instructions accurately and complete assigned tasks efficiently.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members.
• Work cooperatively with colleagues to support smooth daily operations.
• Assist with other general duties within the Grain Department as required.

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12 / Matric qualification.
• Valid Code EB / Code 8 driver's licence.
• Good physical health and the ability to perform physically demanding tasks.
• Ability to lift and move heavy items safely.
• Willingness and ability to work in dusty, challenging and demanding conditions.
• Strong sense of responsibility and reliability.
• Good understanding of workplace safety.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Advantageous Experience

• Previous experience in a grain handling, agricultural, industrial or general worker environment.
• Experience operating tractors.
• Familiarity with basic grain handling and agricultural operations.
